Jamie is a New Zealand trained specialist Oral & Maxillofacial surgeon, who practices the full general scope of the specialty. He is dual qualified – holding both a dental degree from the University of Otago and a medical degree from the University of Melbourne. In addition to being a part of the team at Ormiston hospital, he holds public consultant appointments at Middlemore, Greenlane and Auckland City hospitals, where he is also the supervisor of training to the next generation of surgeons. Jamie consults from Ti Rakau OMS, located conveniently within the Pakuranga medical centre. Jamie also sits on the Australasian ANZAOMS council as a next generation director.
Originally from Tauranga, Jamie obtained his dental degree in 2008, following which he spent three years working as a dentist in both the public and private sectors across Auckland and Queensland.
After obtaining his medical degree in 2015, Jamie worked for several years as a doctor at various hospitals around Victoria gaining experience in areas such as orthopaedic, colorectal, trauma and neurosurgery. Following this, he worked for a year as an Oral & Maxillofacial surgery registrar at the Royal Perth, Fiona Stanley, and Perth children’s hospitals in Western Australia.
Jamie returned to New Zealand in 2019 to complete advanced surgical training at Auckland, Christchurch, Dunedin, and Invercargill hospitals.
Outside of work, Jamie enjoys spending time with his wife Anna, sons Oliver and Leonard, and their family and friends. He is passionate about travelling, being out on the water and scuba diving.

- Complex dentoalveolar surgery including the removal of impacted teeth

- Orthognathic surgery for the management of obstructive sleep apnoea, developmental dentofacial and post-traumatic deformities

- Pre-prosthetic surgery including bone grafting and the placement of dental implants
